Pre Memorial Day Weekend

There's only one week left before the enormous Memorial Day sale but Roblox won't wait until then.

A weekend is a weekend so without further ado, ladies and gentleman, these are the 8 brand new hats (Nobody can buy Ruby Eyes so there isn't really any point to reviewing it) and 2 new faces that came out this weekend!

Gearpunk Bucket

We basically just took a regular bucket and glued some gears on to it- now it's the perfect hat!

Don't let the name fool you. The Gearpunk Bucket is 100% steampunk. Or at least what I think is considered steampunk. This hat is part of the ever expanding bucket hat series. And no, I don't mean the tropical bucket hat thing, I mean the actual bucket that you put water in, on top of your head. Something that started as a joke has now become one of Roblox's most wanted items. This newest addition costs 1,000 Robux. The same amount as the only other not off sale or not limited bucket, Bucket of the Sea. And in my opinion the older sea variant is a tiny bit better although both are pretty awesome. I think this version is just a little bit too light colored. Unless, if Roblox would have named it Robo Bucket then the color scheme would make more sense (the hat's name in Roblox Studio is 'RoboBucket'). Another thing that I don't really like is the antennae. It seems to be placed there just because Roblox wanted to follow the Bucket of the Sea template. I mean look at it, barnacles get turned into buttons, starfish into gears, and seaweed into antennae. Coincidence?! I think not...

And also as a side note for some reason Roblox now put's "now it's the perfect hat" on every bucket hat.

Immortal Sword: The Piece Maker

Rest in pieces. This sword hangs on your back, so it's always ready for action. It's a hat though... so it's never really ready for action.

The next item was also one of the best to come out for LMaD (and the first limited of the weekend!). The Immortal Sword: The Piece Maker is a limited hat and not gear, contrary to popular belief. Now although it would be cool to see what this could've done if it was a gear, the fact that it's a hat means that you can at least wear it into games since most, if not all, games don't allow gears. It cost 10,000 Robux and had 100 in stock. Now with a stock like that it's pretty hard to fail but somehow in the beginning people were losing at most 3,000 Robux by selling it for 10,000 (the original price). Then after a couple hours it rose to 40,000 and then settled down to 30,000. This meant a 11,000 Robux profit. Not bad, right? As for appearance, this thing is epic to the max. It's kind of like the Katana Traveling Pack, you carry this sword on your back except it's at least 2 times bigger than the Traveling Pack. This thing makes you look like you're from Final Fantasy. IT IS GIANT! Now because the name is "Immortal Sword:" then something, this might hint at a future series and if so I can't wait to see the rest of the swords.

Slice and Dice

Green is slice, red is dice.

Roblox liked swords being on your back so much that they released two items like that this weekend. The second sword item was Slice and Dice. It was priced at 100 Robux and was based off the popular and now limited Sword pack (that's the actual hat name). Like the sword above, this item also makes you look like you're from Final Fantasy because of the elaborate sword designs. Something that ruins that appearance though is the round tip on the bottom of the sword pack. Swords are supposed to be sharp! But you can't really complain when the price is cheap (sword packs usually cost from 200-250) and when you look at the swords it holds. Seriously, those things are pretty sweet! And also a nice touch is the shading on the sword protector thing. Love the white highlights!

One Cool Kitty

The cat's meow?

On Roblox there is definitely no shortage of cat and dog hats. If you look closely you can even find a couple cat and dog gears, faces, and packages! But enough is never really enough. So this where the next hat comes into play. One Cool Kitty is the newest addition to the cat family. It costs 200 Robux, which isn't that bad (Doge costs 250). And if I'm honest I actually like this hat even though I'm a dog person. The texture is nice and detailed and the hat itself is positioned on your head just right. However the attention to realism meant that the headphones are actually covering you ears that are on top of your head. It's a nice idea but when executed would just be better if it wasn't there. But nonetheless, a cool addition to the cat hats.

Inky the Cyclops

Twice as tough as pinky.

A random hat every now and then isn't bad. But sometimes the random hat really goes past the boundary and is a bit too random. This time the random hat came in the shape of Inky the Cyclops. And I think we can all guess which type of random this is. It's a close relative of Pinky the Cyclops which went limited during this year's President's Day sale. This version of the Cyclops is priced at 400 Robux and is basically Pinky in a different color. The shape of the head though is still too flat, more of a spherical shape would make it look better. I know this is a revamp of a classic hat that is supposed to bring back nostalgia to Roblox veterans but I don't think 400 is really worth it. Maybe 250?

Fun fact: Inky is four times as tough as Blinky.

Flipped Bill Skater Cap

This hat just did a 180 into my heart.

Roblox has many conflicting ideas about sk8rs. First they think they don't have a lot of money (Skater's Skateboard) and then they think they are rich (Solid Gold Skateboard). First they think they are 3D people (Sk8r Boi) then they think they are 8 bit (8-bit Sk8r Boi). First they think they are dark and gloomy (Sk9r Boi) then they think they are bright and cheerful (Sk13r). At one point they also thought they were hipster lumberjacks (Red Plaid RBX Sk8). The list goes on and on. And now there's one more skater type to join the list. We welcome the silly cartoon skater with the Flipped Bill Skater Cap. But don't worry if you're not a rich cartoon skater because this hat is priced at 5 Robux. I don't know how an NBC'er can get this but it's basically a freebie for BC members. And I can't really say anything else about the hat. It makes you look like from a ridiculous cartoon and therefore kind of silly. A great hat for LOL Day (July 7). But 5 Robux isn't much, so why not?

Stink Eye

Oh no you didn't!

The last item to come out on Saturday was a brand new face! The Stink Eye is the face you make when (and I'm only saying this because it's hinted in the description) you smell a fart. And it costs only 250 Robux, ladies and gentleman! Great, right? I find this actually really funny. For one of those random moments that no one really wants to admit happened, Roblox has just made a face for it. Brilliant! After all, Roblox is the best game with customizable avatars right? All though I have to comment on one thing, the eyebrows are a bit too high up and with a lot of the hats out there, they may get cut off. That kind of ruins the whole disgusted look but you still get the eyes and mouth to make up for eyebrows. If you find a good hat that manages to keep the whole face visible then this expression is priceless! Random faces from real life moments, I love it!

Anime Surprise

Surprise, surprise, anime surprise, how many heroes are still alive!? There could be three, or four, or five!

While Saturday ended with a face, Sunday started off with a face (if we only count new items, Tokyokhaos Giraffe going limited was cool and all but the hat is almost 7 years old). This time it's another addition to the already highly distinct anime face family (there's a Midly Irritated Face, a Super Happy Face, a Green Super Happy Face, and a Purple Super Happy Face). The Anime Surprise is a slightly altered version of the Super Happy face that has more fancy eyebrows and costs 70 Robux (considerably less than the other anime faces). It definitely has a rounder smile than the Super Happy face which means it is better there but if you're not an anime fan then there is no real point of buying this face. You can see that the face is meant for girls (which isn't bad, in fact it's kind of cool to see Roblox branch out to the not so stereotypical gamer community) and I'm a boy so you won't see me buying it anytime soon. Nothing wrong with girl faces, just I like random fart related faces more. And if it wasn't obvious, the eyebrows and the lines above the eyes are really high up so this face also has those cut off while wearing a lot of hat combos. But the eyes are the things that really matter and those are always seen.

Tokyokhaos Lion

During it's short run, Tokyokhaos was besieged by lawsuits claiming it was substantially similar to another popular American sitcom about New Yorkers behaving badly. The network caved and removed Costanza Lion from the show. Fans were outrage and the ratings took a pummeling, but most of the other actors were relieved. Costanza Lion had already tried to eat the penguin twice.

If you thought that based on the first three items released that this was going to be a sword theme weekend then towards the end of the weekend you would think it's anime weekend. A couple minutes after Tokyokhaos Giraffe went limited there was a brand new addition to the forgotten anime cartoon released. Please welcome, the Tokyokhaos Lion, probably the cutest hat ever to come out. It is priced at 110 Robux, just like all the other Tokyokhaos hats, but because it is newer it looks a lot better than the rest. The lion doesn't look realistic but who needs real when you have so you are cute. The colors used, make the lion look really cuddly. Warm colors are always the best! The head is also a little flat. It's like that on purpose but I thought it was worth mentioning. It's also big enough that it doesn't have any good hat combos with any hat that touches the head in any way. What I'm saying is that mostly every hat except for tails will not look well with this.

Ermine Cloak

Royalty is attitude.

The last item of the weekend was also the third Limited U and the second Limited U that could be bought by the community. But this wasn't a regular Limited U. This Limited U followed the recent trend of items having way too much stock and then having to be put on a timer to sell out. Long ago, Roblox sometimes said when items would be going limited. The best examples are the Shooting Stars, on sale for a couple hours and then turned limited. Well I think that Roblox is going back to this method but instead using Limited U items. This is so that all the people who want to buy the hat, buy it. Basically we decide the stock. We get to buy as many as we want and get serials while we're at it. It's like an instant limited but you get to know in what order you bought it. So far there has been three other limiteds (two faces and the Crimsonwrath sword) like this and they all failed, two selling below their original price. Not good for profit but good if you keep missing limiteds and just want to buy one from Roblox. Sometimes it's just so exciting to buy a brand new limited! Well the fourth and newest limited to join this trend is the Ermine Cloak. It cost 200 Robux, had 10,000 in stock and was sold for two hours. After the two hours were up, the hat was bought 4,007 times. Afterward, it stayed steady at 200 Robux meaning that whoever was an original owner just lost 60 Robux (Equivalent to 12 Flipped Bill Skater Caps). At least you didn't lose that much. Appearance wise the hat looks pretty cool. The royal look is delivered perfectly and you can see some cloth high-lights and shadows. There's a tiny error with one spot in the very front, as in it's not perfectly filled in. It's really hard to notice though. The cloak is also really wide. This makes it not look well with packages like the Robloxian 2.0. However, with packages with broad shoulders its the perfect hat to wear. Some good package examples include the default package and the recently updated Dragon Hunter Armor.
